Pot holes broke fan clutch bearing, strange?
Recently had a major service (timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt) done, and was out enjoying a nice test drive, then hit a big pot hole , then started getting a clickety sound that seem to go with the serpentine belt or fan (present at idle or any speed). Took it back to my mechanic figuring maybe some pulleys got loose. Turned out the radiator fan (the white one behind radiator) is now wobbly, and the bearing went bad (making the clickety sound, and all grease squeezed out of the fitting).
No idea on how this could have happened, except to think that I may have hit the pot hole so hard, car bottomed out, and the plastic undercarriage guard got pushed into the fan blade (from below) then into the bearing. I came to this hypothesis from reading a Chevy Trail Blazer forum on Edmunds dot com. Kind of surprised not to hear more of this happening.
Decided to change that bearing (have to buy the whole base, $130) and the fan clutch (still working but decided to change since it was $50)+$50 for labor. Fan now running silent and balanced. But while under hood found a leaky power steering pump that gets noisy when AC/heat is turned on. So power steering pump is next.

nope , the guy who fixed your car destroyed the clutch for the fan by heating it up and now it is oozing out silicone.
Pot hole even accidents will not make it leak.

I took the fan blade and clutch and bearing off with him, so he didn't do anything other than running the car to see where to noise is coming from. And there was no clinking sound before hitting that pot hole. Maybe it was weak to begin with, and the pot hole sealed it. Anyhow, it's running silent now.
