When i put the are in reverse and start backing up, as soon as I accelerate the transmission slips out of reverse to neutral, only when i lift my foot off the gas pedal it will go back in gear, but i can only go reveres in very low speed, as soon as i go a bit faster it slips out of gear to neutral.

what comes to mind is that you have bad transmission mount and engine mounts, and/or gear linkage. go under the car and inspect these parts. it may also be a bad shifter. have you spilled anything on top of the shifter? is it sticky when rowing through it?
