Presumably this is with the engine running or with the engine off and your pressing the shift lock override button at the same time, right? (No offense, just need to be sure )

Has a drink been spilled on there?

Could be the safety switch behind the brake pedal is faulty. Had that happen on an Acura once. Simple and easy fix if that is it.
Have to press brake pedal to shift gears. If the safety switch behind the brake pedal is not working/engaging then it won't allow the shifter to move.
Hope you can find the problem easily.

I agree, it is most likely the switch under the brake pedal. you can try stomping on the pedal to see if it fixes the problem, temporarily of course, just to get you to move the shifter out of park.
