Cool Ls400 annoying vibrations

sorry if this has already been discussed, I haven't been able to find anything significantly related. Anyways I'm a new member I have a 95 ls400 with 211k miles. All basic maintenance kept up on etc. however I'm not entirely sure if the motor or transmission mounts have been replaced. Recently when in drive stopped at the regular 700 rpms my car has developed a stronger vibration from the steering wheel and can be slightly felt from the seats. However this only happens if the wheel is turned while at a stop after about a good 20-25 miles of driving, the even more strange part is once the wheel is turned from a stop the vibration will stay constant until accelerating then come back every time the car stops until it is shut off. When it is started again it is gone until repeated. It has always had a moderate shaking at 65-70 mph. I replaced the strut rods and tie rod end links replaced about 6k miles ago, just entirely replaced front brakes two weeks ago, replaced ps hose 6k miles ago and flushed fluid last weekend. Fluid had slight burnt smell but looked fine as well as the filter on the pump. Leaks no fluid, checked boots and hoses. But when the wheel is turned left from a stop there is a slight pop. No other suspension noises recently had alignment as well.

Start with changing the trans mount. Im not sure about your low idle shake, but it will definitely help with your 65-70mph issue. I just did the same in my 99 with very noticeable results.

Same thought here. Changing the tranny mount is inexpensive & very easy. It should only take you 1/2 to an hour top. Make sure to replace it w/ a genuine or a name branded mount so you have a good part for years to come & also know whether that was the problem or not. Good luck.

Yeah I got the oem transmission mount I will be installing tomorrow, although now the shaking has gotten worse and is almost comparable to driving on a flat on the front left corner so I'm leaning more towards alignment, or ball joints. Will keep you guys updated until I figure it out finally lol

Vibration from the tranny mount will be felt mainly on the shifter. But you better check them ball joints. When I had one snap I was, luckily, only going about 5MPH. Just before that I was doin 80 on the highway.

Wow Unfortunately im sure my mounts don't look a whole lot better, I will be replacing them soon. Balljoints feel and look fine, pretty much no play at all when I try to move the tire when car is jacked up, however the steering wheel turns right when brakes are applied. From a stop when the wheel is turned left there is a faint popping noise. , car wanders to the right and at about 35, and 60ish mph the wheel will shake slightly. The vibration seems to be gone and I have no unusual suspension noises. my money is still on balljoints and alignment. We will see.

My ball joints, along with most of the front suspension, looked new and had no play when I bought the car. 3 months later my steering wheel wouldn't return back after a turn unless I pulled it back to center. (sometimes with alot of pressure) Mine snapped right in half. Never seen that happen before. Make sure you check yours good, then check them again.
