Loud clapping sound from the rear of car, progresses with revs
Anyone idea on what this could be? Only heard when accelerating foward, can't hear it when reversing.

axles, driveshaft, diff, etc. possibly. You should get that checked out!

Might sound silly but, check your tires along with the other items listed above...
A simple screw, or nail stuck in a tire can make some pretty concerning sounds as speed increases.
