Question about brake/caliper upgrade
Back in the day ( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=59528) I tried getting SC430 rotors and calipers fit onto my 1990 LS400.
When we test fitted them, the SC430 rotor mounted OK, but the calipers did not fit.
I amde a cheesy diagram hoping to explain this better, as my premonitions that the braking and the axel was totally redone on the 1993+ LS cars might be true. (uhh yeah..)
Hopefully some brake gurus can help me understand why or how to make a larger caliper fit.
If you look at the diagram, you'll see that the caliper LENGTH is longer than the stock caliper. If you measured the stock vs sc430 the stock might be 5 inches, and the sc430 miight be 5 1/2 ". Therefore the bolt holes are longer and don't match up.
Am I just observing an impossible configuration? And if I wanted bigger brakes woul I have to replaced the front end axle from a newer car? Or are the ends where the bolt holes are changeable?
