Default Is my caliper piston stuck?

I was in the middle of replacing my rear brake pads, lines, etc. when i tried to put the piston half of the caliper back on the other loaded half of the caliper. The piston was completely pushed out, and i couldn't push it back in w\ my bare hands. I used a C-clamp to push the piston in [making sure to keep the clamp parallel so as to not destroy the caliper bore], and forced the piston back in. I haven't bled the brakes or tested the calipers yet, but i thought I'd ask so i don't ruin the new rotors while testing the brakes out. Is the caliper piston suppose to move freely when not connected to the brake line?

Thanks

-John

everything sounds fine. you shouldnt be able to push the piston in with your hand but you should be able to with a c clamp. if a piston is seized it will not go in at all or will make scratching noises when it is pressed back into the caliper
