1997 LS400: If Upgrading Head Unit, Can Climate Controls be Moved to the Bottom?
Hi,
I have a 1997 LS400 with the stock head unit, which has a display that is on the fritz, with some things not working. Radio works ok, but can't read the display. If I upgrade, I would like a touch screen, perhaps with a Nav Unit and Bluetooth with Hands-Free. Can the Heat/AC Controls be moved to the bottom without too much trouble?
Having the display towards the top of the dash would help with being able to watch outside. Can this work?

Anything's doable, but is it bolt-in and will it look right? No.
You have to trim the sides of the climate control to fit and figure out how to mount it, then you will have to fab new mounts and a new dash surround for the radio.
It's been done, just a more involved process than the vast majority of people are willing to go through.
