Default Tach went out suddenly

A couple weeks ago I did the lexls needle fix to fix my half lit tach and speedo. It worked well. Tonight I switched the one wire sensor for the temp gauge and when I started the car up my tach was no longer lit. Coincidence? What should I do about a totally burned out gauge needle?

We don't understand the switched one wire deal? All lexus wires have connectors on them and can't be switched.

Switched as in switched out/replaced. I replaced the one wire sensor for the temperature gauge. My tach needle was working fine until I replaced the sensor for the temperature gauge.

There is nothing that the temperature sensor wire should do to affect the tachometer. Unless the ignition switch was turned on and the battery was connected when you changed out the temperature sensor. Where they?

I would post the wiring diagram for the cluster here, but I only have the diagram for a 1990-1992 LS 400. The cluster was changed in 1993, which has modified the operation of at least the fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter, and an added outside temperature readout.

If you need a new needle, options include buying another cluster or sending it over to Tanin, who do cluster refurbs for our cars.

I simply replaced the sensor, I did not rewire anything. Dicer, the key was off when I changed the sensor but I plugged in and out while it was running. This is also how I tested the old sensor, run a wire from the connector to ground and see if it pegs the temp gauge (it did). These are only 5v connections, can't hurt anything.

Has anyone just replaced a needle on their cluster?

I have never heard of anyone replacing the needles themselves, primarily because they are quite tricky. Tanin is a good service for such a task. However, I have seen this thread, which discusses swaping the needle units and circuit boards. If the needle doesn't even move now, you could have fried the individual unit.

I have the whole thing apart right here on my table. Getting the needle assembly out isn't difficult.
