I found a new baby
Sold my daughters 97 and picked up this girl. This is Jess. 1999 with 222,000. New radiator, TB done at 177,000, water pump not changed unfortunately. I contacted the facility that did the repair and they said unlike Honda, they do not automatically change the water pump in a Toyota which I thought was interesting. Drives perfect with a moderate steering wheel flex around 60 but at 80 it's like smooth glass. Interior is perfect minus the driver arm rest (and those pesky airbag warning stickers on the visors) Now I understand why some get a little bent why people chop these up and personalize them; the engineering of these cars are incredible. Most cars would be dirt by now. She needs fluids changes and the typical PS repair but at $2,000 I think I stole this car.

Yeah it was not a good call not to replace the water pump, if that outfit had to give a 90,000 mile warranty on the water pump that's still in the car then maybe they would learn. Oh and yeah if the water pump froze and took out the engine that would have to be covered as well.

Agree dicer. My hope is that she's good for another 30,000 or so but that may be pushing it. As I am tidying up things a bit this has me puzzled. I know the lenses on these can fade it seems the turn signal lense is pristine and the HID lens is crazed and faded. Is this normal? My 98 has clear lenses all around. I will be polishing these out regardless

For a more permanent fix, I would definitely recommend following a procedure similar to djamps'.

very nice looking 99, I love mine, 206k at present.. I bought this one in 2010 with 160k for 6500$.... have changed many suspension parts, thru the years plus a WP/TB+ all brgs & plugs, VCG & mounts recently and it still runs so silent it is hard to believe... oh yes, a starter solenoid kit a few months after purchase... nothing else major.. drive and love it..

plastic lenses are going to haze over. its just due to age. that's any car. just don't wait too long to clear them up cause they can get to a point where you really cant ever get them back to perfect.
