Cutting Tanabe springs?
About to buy a set of Tanabes for my ls400. It says max drop is 1.3 rear and 1.8 front. Could I cut off like 1.5 coils off front and maybe 1 off rear and not totally f*** my stock struts? I want moar low and 1.8 is almost there but over 2 in drop would be nicer. Thanks

they're progressive springs, cutting them is the stupidest thing you could do to them short of heating them.
DF210 are closer to 1.5-2" drop all around once they settle in, and they are generally quite hard on old stock shocks, as they are already lower in pressure and end up working outside the appropriate range.
IF you want to get low, save up and buy some megans or BC coilovers.

stock struts can only handle a certain range, and spring rate. change any of that (i.e. while lowering) and the stock strut longevity suffers. it's not a matter of weakness, it's a matter of usage outside of the design parameter.
i've heard good things about godspeed but only time will tell since they are fairly new. the 5 year mark will show if they could hang with similar coilovers.
