So after my daily approx. 1 hour drive to work in the AM and I head out to lunch (usually 2-3 hours later) when I start my 96 LS400 white smoke comes from under the car and the bonnet. This is the only time it does this. No other time when I start the car does it do this, only after I drive to work in the AM. It doesn't do it after my drive home. I was thinking a leaking Heater Core, but I have heat; only no A/C.

Any thoughts on what could be happening??

Does it have an odor? Like gas or exhaust or antifreeze? I would say its time to open the bonnet and have someone else start it and look to see where it is coming from.

likely your air control valve (ACV) is leaking on your power steering pump, causing power steering fluid to burn at startup. this is a very common problem on pre-98 models. either get a new one, or plug it up as the link below shows. also be sure to check your power steering fluid level.
