Default Ok Really??? $800

Alright so I have no idea how this happened, I took the car in to get tinted last weekend and when I left the place this front, left side door panel was sticking out a little bit. I thought it was no big deal and maybe a screw or something came out and I could snap it back into place no problem. Anyways, the following Monday I took it to my mechanic to see if he could just snap it back into place or screw it back in and he is saying that the rubber inside has failed or is cracked or something and we would have to get a whole new lower panel...a whole new one! For this little piece that came undone??? Is it really necessary? He called his supplier who said this part, painted and all would be $800!

Am I crazy or does that sound right? They said they could try gluing it back or maybe find one from a salvage yard but still, I mean is it really done for???

Pictures below. Not sure why they formatted sideways, sorry.

Ugh... Take it to an auto body guy and tell him to glue or rescrew it back in place. Shouldn't be more thAn 1.5 hours of labor.

$800 my @SS.

Missing small body panel plastic screw. Open your door on either side and look for one missing on the drivers side.

$1 part.

Thank you! I was not about to spend $800 on that.

Actually those are glued on with adhesive in addition to a couple screws,. so it is possible the adhesive failed. If the panel's distorted/bent it may not be reusable.

That said, why would you buy OEM? relatively cheap part on the used market and probably about $100-150 to have it installed with the correct 3M dual stage adhesive.

Hell I think I even have a driver's side UCF2x lower panel in that color back home in socal lol.

I looked at the panel up close to see if it was bent or distorted and it looks just fine, except that its not flush against the body of the car.

PD is correct. From the looks of it either one of the bolts/nuts in the corner is missing or the double sided tape has failed. You will have to remove the 4 bolts/nuts then use a heat gun on the top/bottom and sides to loosen the stcky tape in order to remove the panel.
