Creaking sound from LS400 front brakes - Ideas?
The front brakes of my 1999 LS400 have begun making a creaking sound, similar to an old garage door spring, when I depress the pedal. With the vehicle parked but running I had someone depress the pedal, and I was able to confirm it's coming from the caliper area on both sides. The sound is much fainter with the engine off. The vehicle stops the same as it always has. The dealership measured the front brake lining as being 6mm or greater 4,000 miles ago.
Any ideas? I appreciate the help!

my 99 started that last week, as I backed out of my driveway and turned my steering to the left, I got a creaking sound AND then the first time I pressed the brakes it done it again.. done this same thing every time... my nephew said it was the brace that went from the lower control arm to the front "bumper" he tightened it about a turn and the sound is gone...
hope this works for you
(I dont know what that brace is, I am 81 and dont get under mine anymore, but tighten up anything that can be moved..)
mine has 192k on it..

Thanks for the reply, Billy. Did your car make the sound when the car was parked as well? Because of this clue I don't think mine is suspension related, but purely a brake system issue.
