Default Power steering pump whining

Would putting a 'kit' in the power steering pump sort this whining sound ?

I dont know what you mean by 'kit'. It is most likely the bearing in the pump wearing out. When mine went it was barely noticable for months until one morning i started it and it didnt quiet down at all. Check for any leaks. My idle up valve was leaking so i blocked it and it helped for half a day. I ended up rebuilding the pump with an oe rebuild kit and bearing. I noticed one of the seals in the pump had failed as well when i took it apart. Took a few bleeds to get it all quiet.

I cant find it now but there is an illustrated step by step on pump rebuild, check it out and decide if it's something you are willing/able to do. If not you can get a reman or new pump from virtually any auto parts store w/ or w/o reservoir. I decided it made more sense to buy a reman lifetime warranty and reused my reservoir, but plan on spending some time to get the screen clean.

I think it cost just over $100 and they had it the day after I ordered it, took my wife and I about an hour to install it, I spent some time looking for that hidden bolt behind the pulley. Good thing I had the new pump so I could see where the mounting provisions were. The DSPO of my car used (I think)conventional PS fluid, really made a mess of things. I had to flush it with 2 galons of DexII to get it pink again.

My car makes about 90% less noise than before.

I'm in Australia. None of the auto shops in US seemed to want to send a re manufactured pump over seas. Postage is alot too. However, if anyone knows a shop that will post to Australia that would be great.
