G-tech results part 2 (K&N!) + car weight
I had my car weighed today. 3,880 lbs without me in it. I also tested my braking distance as best I could. It was better each time.
Does anyone know what gas weighs? That weight came with about 1/4 tank of gas. All these were run on a full tank. By the time I was done I had used 1/2 of a 1/4. So even with LESS gas the K&N still performs worse than the stock filter. Now, these time differences must calculate the 7HP and 10 tq. loss from the dyno. Also I entered the weight from the scale plus me (4100) and the g-tech calculated 153HP ! No good!
K here we go -
0-60 runs (+.20 seconds for g-tech offset - more realistic time)
K&N (with stock plastic top cover + cardboard between engine and filter)
1. 8.57 (8.77) + braking distance = 356ft
2. 9.07 (9.27) + braking distance = 244ft
3. 9.02 (9.22) + braking distance = 182ft (ABS kicked in for a split second)
Average - 8.88 (9.08)
K&N - no cover no cardboard
1. 9.01 (9.21)
2. 8.71 (8.91)
3. 8.75 (8.95)
Average - 8.82 (9.02)
Stock filter setup
1. 8.50 (8.70)
2. 8.73 (8.93)
3. 8.78 (8.98)
Average - 8.67 (8.87)
Quarter Mile
K&N (cover + coardboard)
16.76 seconds
88.3 mph
Stock
16.62 seconds
88.5 mph

hmm.. no matter how you use the K&N it still gets slower times then the stock setup. I think I will part with my HKS for now until I get my Injen in.

The HKS is another cone type filter correct?
Do we have the same MAF plate? If so we could test the HKS with the g-tech someday vs stock. That's unless the K&N is entirely different than the HKS.
When is the Injen going to be released? Is it going to have a full pipe and piggyback?

Good stuff.
I don't know what exhaust you have but gains can be made there.
If you don't know where your EFI fuse is, disconnect the battery overnight and give it another go.
Often the ECU will use conservative parameters it has learned and can be difficult to budge without a reset. Others have reported up to 0.5 s gain 0-60.
It would be interesting to see if you can measure anything.
After a 20 minute reset in the field my car went slower, then better and better 'til it was a little better than before but no much.
