Default Problem with locking driver's door

Hello,
I am new to Lexus'. This is my first Lexus. I seem to be having some problems with the ignition coil on my LS400. The car isn't starting...

I also seem to be having a problem with the driver's door. It won't lock at all, not even with the car's key.

I got this car via a trade I did with someone. I traded my Ford Ranger(1995) for this car lol. The ranger was banged up, so yeah.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers from Aruba.

Well you definitely got a good deal because ford blows dogs for quarters lol

As far as the door goes. Does the key turn in the lock indicating that its the proper key?? And second question is, is the lock cylinder in the door properly, or has it fallen in the door?? Last. Take the door panel off, and check to see if the metal rod has popped out of the parts inside the door that pivot.

Hey man I know this sounds kinda crazy or kinda simple but push to door lock button twice.

My Lexus has the same issue driver door does not lock, unless I have the keys out and hit the central door lock button twice!

Strange I know.

welcome! sounds like the rod inside door panel is stuck or binding somewhere if the key can't even turn. that or the cylinder is not made for the key. does the key work in the pass side door and trunk? how about the glove box and trunk release? if they all work there, that could mean the driver door has a different cylinder.

as for the coil, it's a fairly common item to go bad. also check your plugs and wires. most common is the failed ECU capacitors.

this is a different issue than what the OP stated. this is because the circuit in the actuator is getting old and does not have the torque inside to fully close the latch. there was a thread here where someone took the door latch apart and cleaned the contacts inside the actuator.

Hey thanks for the welcome. :3

The door shows a green light. I have the original OEM key and when I twist the key to lock the doors, all other 3 doors locks except for the driver's door.

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!
