Default New Paint?

Hey Gang,

I crashed my car about 3 weeks ago and the insurance estimated my damage is a $1,600. I have $1,000 deductable. That leaves about $600 dollars for repair of the front bumper, left fender, and two head lights. The shop will weave the deductable for me. The cost of repairing my car is only $600.

The owner said if i want to paint the whole car, i will need to add an additional $600. The new paint job will be using Lexus OEM paint with 3 coats of clear. What do u think? Should i get it? Right now the car is not in a bad condition. Actually, its pretty good for a 13 years old car. Trust me temptation is there.

That is actually really cheap to paint the entire car. Not a bad call to step up & have it done. After 13 years there is probably some fading to your paint, so you should paint the entire car to get a good match, as long as the shop does good work.

It sounds like a MAACO or Earl Sheib quality job. Make sure they use OEM paint (not utherane one). Otherwise it's a great deal.

I gotta agree with Retro David. An additional $600 to repaint the whole car with OEM Lexus paint is WAY too good to be true, unless you're like best friends with the guy who's giving you the deal. Most likely it's not going to be OEM Lexus paint because the cost for just the paint itself would be over $600...so I'm guessing he will be using paint that looks almost exactly like OEM Lexus, but isn't OEM Lexus.

He will be using Dupont Paint. He is a good friend of mine. He painted my show quality Mustang Cobra too about a year ago. He also said Lexus uses Dupont paint also. I am not worry about the quality. He also said i can pay him few months later too. Its additional $600. The total he will make off my car is $1,200. Fixing front bumper, left fender, grill and headlights along with a complete fresh paint for $1,200.
