ring and pinion install kits for LS400?( Supra MKIV differential installation)
Hey folks!
First thread of a super proud new owner of an LS400! ^^
I have bought this newly rebuilt lamell differential from a Supra aut MKIV wich according to my googling should fit my -98 LS as long as i swap along the rear diff cover.
Hopefully it will fit right in there but maby there will be some shimming involved.
If so: do you guys know if there are any ring and pinion install kits etc i can buy?
Thnx in advance!

not sure if there are any install kits out there since this is uncommon.
here are more threads for more info:

But surely even some open oem diffs have been shimmed a few times?
3.71:1 wont hurt my end goal of good driftabilities, only my fuel account , but are you telling me there is a way of using either or will only the supra one(?) fit?

if yuo want the 3.76:1 ratio then you don't even need to disassemble the supra diff. You should be able to swap the entire case, with only changing the rear diff cover/mounting plate.
This is presuming you have the correct type of iff. The USDM turbo auto had the 3.76:1 ratio and correct 200mm ring gear. the LS shares this 200mm ring gear. The USDM turbo 6spd with the 3.26 ratio (differen from the LS400s 3.26:1 ratio) had a 220mm ring gear, which makes the entire rear diff and axle arrangement incompatible.
Confirm you have a 200mm ring gear and you're good to go.

I had been reading too much on US forums. As it turns out all Supras sold in Europe are 220mm.
Now Sweden is flooded with JDM imports but from what I can google mine is a big diff, like the one on the left in this picture:
Does anyone know if the whole pumkin would fit, like this guy is saying: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6019988-post18.html and if so wich axle shafts I could use?
Or is it better to return it and buy a new kaaz and try to find a Supra small diff rear cover?

Thats what i will have to do.
The Kaaz DAT3020 should be right, right? If so im going for the Super Q, i like what ive read about it..
But i will still need the Supra rear diff cover according to your post from a while ago: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/4126860-post7.html
Can anyone explain why though since i immagine the ring gear being the part closest to the diff cover and the ring gear will stay the same?
In fact does anyone know of a swap in person since all my googling aside i still havent seen an actual LS400-Supra LSD build?

the diff cover only applies if you're swapping to a non LS400 differential case/carrier as the rear plates are different. If you're installing the LSD into your stock carrier/case then you won't need it.
I've got something in my garage i'll be posting about soon enough

I thought the LS400 diff cover was the one what was to small for some reason.
But youre telling me i can install a DAT3020 (kaaz supra mkiv small diff) right into my stock pumkin with no modification?
Modification is only necessary if i exchange gear ration since ring gears are different sizes?
Or i would need the diff cover if i changed to a diff from what car?
Looking forward to seeing your post!

the supra rear diff cover is different from the LS diff cover (the LS has slightly different rear mounts). Hence if you were going to use the supra diff, you would need to use the LS cover. But as you are going to use the stock LS400 diff, you do not need to change the covers.

Thats what it is?
I thought it had something to do with the cut out the guy from Kaaz was talking about, but i couldnt figure out how.
Come to think about it that would concern the differential cage, not the pumkin, silly..
Ill attach his work of art along with a picture of my diff that i took while changing the parking brake wires,
