Default whats it for???

so i was dyno-matting my trunk after installing an aftermarket sub and amp in my 1993 LS400 and near the motor for my power antenna there is a black electric type box of some sort with a key inserted in it. can someone please tell me what its actual purpose is??? thanks. im guessing its either for the alarm system, the built in car phone system, or is a stock amp for the sound system. but id like to know for sure

Its probably the receiver for the remote lock, it should be right next to the antenna motor. If you take a look inside there should be a little memory card that sometimes falls out from all the vibrations, and then the locking system stops working and you are screwed.

a picture will help. but "a key inserted to it" sounds strange.

thanks for the info. when i get home later i'll take a picture of what i'm talking about and post it. but i think it is for the remote lock . because my remote will stop working every once in a while like something came loose from the vibrations or like the batteries in it are dead or something.
