O/D off light is on, pushing O/D button does nothing.
My '91 LS400 the O/D off light came on when I started the car today. I have tried pushing the O/D button and nothing changes. It is not shifting into overdrive, the light is not flashing. I checked my transmission fluid level it is correct and clean. I've just been driving this car less than a month.
Any suggestions.

please download the transmission trouble codes, along with all of the diagnostic codes, using the easy procedure here - then post the codes you get to this thread!
Thanks LScowboyLS. I did not have diagnostic code, but I know how to check them now. If I had a manual for this car I would not have had this problem. I work nights so it wasn't till I went to check for a code during the day that I saw the real problem. The O/D on/off button is on the gear shift, I had set something on the shift console and turned the O/D off. I was pushing the Shift Lock Override to try and turn it back on. In the daylight I saw the real button on the gear shift. If I had had a manual I would have found out where is was because I read the manual. My son fixed up this car, in Calif, and sent it to me as a gift. It was salvaged twice in California and could not be registered there. I live in MO and couldn't register it here either but Iwas able to register it in Kansas, just a few miles away.I love it, it is beautiful.
how about this beautiful condition original owner's manual and the original pretty leather case it came in and all of the other goodies for $20 to your door?
If you register on the Lexus web site as an owner (free), you can order an owner's manual (also free).
I imagine that it does not come with the beautiful leather case, though.
If you have trouble sleeping, you can also download a PDF copy.
