Default Simple PCV Removal-NOT! Arrrgggg!

A 90 LS400 with what could very well be the original PCV valve,is proving a bear to remove. It spins,it rocks from side to side, but i can't pull that sucker out even with a vise grip! Is there some secret to removal? do i have to pull off the plastic gasket first (i don't think so) do i need to go back to the gym? Any and all advice gladly accepted.TIA!

Maybe this link will help. I think Lee also had trouble getting the PCV off.

Yes..it was pretty tough to pull out but like you are doing you can just rock it and use a big pair of pliers and PULL.

Default Using Enough Muscle..

I finally was able to extract the PVC valve but managed to leave behind half the plastic grommet that broke off and fell into the valve cover-had to play the game "Operation" with a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out in pieces.Went to my local Toyota dealer and he matched up a nice modern rubber grommet and with a little carb cleaner brought the old PVC back up to spec.Life is good again
