Default Pick 'n Roll (I need tire suggestions)

I remember a great thread full of tire suggestions with benefits and drawbacks. I can't find it anywhere. If you could kindly direct me to that, or make a suggestion here, I would greatly appreciate it. I just need a good balance of price, comfort, and performance.

On other cars, I am not really a Michelin fan, but for LS400 - there is the Michelin Primacy MXV4 and then there are a bunch of also-ran pretenders - if you can afford the MXV4, there is no tire really even close, for our cars at least. Also, in this tire, save some money and just get the H-rated version, it's as good or better than the V-rated version!

My gosh! I'm agreeing with "cowboy" for the second time .... in .... like ... forever! I've been using H-rated Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires on my 2000 LS400 for the past several years. They have a great ride, are quiet and provide decent handling ... and it looks like they are going to last substantially beyond 40,000 miles - best overall tire I've used on an LS400 in the 300,000+ miles I've driven them. I don't know how MXV4's would do in snow and ice since I always use "real" snow tires in winter - currently Bridgestone Blizzak WS70.

I see no need for V-rated tires. I rarely exceed 70 mph and am certainly never going to approach the 130 mph limit of H-rated tires.

Yeah, Michelins are pretty epic for a daily tire. I think I actually have MXV4s on my car as well

Have to provide us with what tire characteristics and wheel sizes you have. The standard is as Cowboy and Kansas have mentioned. There are others in other categories of tires to consider based on your preferences. As PD mentioned, the wheel tire section is a good place to ask this question.

On tirerack.com, there has lately appeared a serious contender for the Michelin MXV4 throne - a tire that drivers are reporting to be substantially even quieter and over $100/set cheaper. I am watching the reviews of the new Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus like a hawk - have not seen initial user reviews of a tire that fits our LS400 this high scoring in a long time. - I may have to be the guinea pig on this one!

If your driving style is more touring and less grand touring the Michelin Defender is great - very quiet and supple ride, good traction, incredible durability. I'd go for the MXV4s, though...

Also dependent on size and specific application... Stock, slammed, wheel sizes also come into play.

Achilles ATR Sport tires are pretty good for stancy/cheapy tires.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's for year around daily driving on a stock ls400 currently rolling 225/60R16 Mastercraft Touring LSR's.

if you are used to Mastercraft Touring LSR's - you are gonna think someone just gave you a brand new car, when you get these MXV4's installed!

I would get a front end alignment while you are at it, so they will not prematurely wear.
