I would say stick with LS wheels as they are the easiest to swap in. That being said, anything from 95-00 should fit, as far as LS400s are concerned. You can also use the LS430 wheel, but you would have to rewire the airbag and would lose functionality of the buttons. Those are pretty much all I can name off of my head.

I always have wanted to try a 98+ wooden trimmed wheel in my 95. I assume the airbag could be swapped over to the new wheel considering its looks to be the same shape.

After owning my 2004 GX470 and another car with it, its an unusually nice touch to have!

If I can remember correctly 98-00 LS steering wheel air bag is different than the 95-97

95, 96, and probably 97 should work fine.

I was told by the local Lexus dealer the wood insert steering wheels from a 98,99,00 LS will not fit a 95,96,97 LS.

I believe member xtremex626 is correct, the wood insert steering wheels from a 98,99,00 LS will physically fit a 95,96,97, but you would lost some of the controls such as cruise or radio controls etc. and possibly even the air bag.

yeah. i believe you need to rewire some things in order to have the full functionality of the steering wheel controls. airbag should clip right in.
