I know its a weird question but I have the chance to pick up a 97 ls400 for dirt cheap but it has a bad bag in the front. My question would my stock gs front struts fit (im bagged so no longer need them)? I know they make bag to struts for the ls400 and look close... any help would be appreciated. Before even attempting, I suggest you measure the pattern of the top hat/ strut tower.. Make sure the GS strut would even insert into the tower... And if anything the car would sag on the GS struts since the spring rates. I've tried '01 GS300 front springs on stock struts of a '92 LS400, and the car would sag as though it was lowered but had a terrible ride. And if I remember correctly, the GS300 struts were too short for the LS400 as well.

If the top hats/ strut towers don't match up but the overall length will work, maybe you could swap the top hat from the stock LS suspension over to the GS struts... I can't guarantee this will work though. Just my thoughts.

 

Thanks for that info, ill try those out. The thing is the car is 20 miles away and just wanted to get it home id get taxed on a two truck that far lol

 

Oh I feel ya man. Just try it out. Like I said, just try measuring the bolt pattern on the top hat. And if they line up, just swap them over for the time being
