Actually, depreciation can be a good thing. Take my car for instance. I bought it well under retail, got good lease terms, and write off 90% of it's use for "business purposes". This means that good ol' Uncle Sam is paying at least half of my car payment for me. I would much rather drive a nice car like this LS430 for $400/month under business instead of giving that $600 extra $$$ to the government.

It's a sad fact, but because of laws like this, the rich get richer and (likely) the poor get poorer. In my case, at least, I pay a few employyes good wages and feel I am "helping" my country rather than hurting it.

I'm not directing this to you as a personal attack, its just i hate seeing many people (this happens on benz forums also) just sterotype that 90% of people who have benzo's are just for the ego. We got the SL because there are no other cars like it. SC430? give me a break (not that i'm dissin the SC430.. i love Mark Levinson!!! thats one thing i wish the SL had) My aunt got a S500 because LS430's are too, MUCH too conservitive. Sure they are reliable, but so is the S500 when your not pushing it to the limit. How many times will my aunt go to track the car? haha.. i'm guess it'll actually be in the negative!

Lexus has its pros and Mercedes has its pro's. Its just i think most of the lineup you were talking about were the people who buy the Mercedes name, not the car. Such as gettin the (not naming any names here) C230 with nothing on it, or a S430 with nothing on it. You know, bone stock, not even any options. Heck i'd go for a LS430 instead of the S430.
