I have been shopping around to do the upper control arms on my 92. I checked rockauto.com and called the customer service number. I have always been under the impression that the control arms were different between 1st and 2nd gens. I have checked the Raybestos upper arms and they have the same part number for 90-00. Customer service says that is correct and they will work on all years.

So, are they the same or are they different? I am still thinking I am correct even after talking with customer service. Anybody out there with some more knowledge that can point out the difference?

I am very happy with the LBJ from Raybestos and hope those are in fact the right parts for the 1st gen.

part number 502-1200 and 502-1201

a quick search from sewell lexus shows:

94 pass side UCA part number: 4861050020
95 pass side UCA part number: 4861059015

like the lower ball joint, it looks like they are NOT the same between 1st and 2nd gen. this does NOT mean it won't fit however.

I am curious, as I do think the quality of Raybestos seems to be the best option. They did say if it doesn't fit I can get a full refund plus the shipping. Maybe I will just have to order one and see what happens. I mean the pictures of the parts look almost identical to me.

why not go OEM? sewell gives a decent discount on the parts, though i understand it's still more than aftermarket but heck it's OEM.

Still pricey and it's a 20 year old car.

Even with discount I think the OEM is like 490$ or some absurd ish. My doorman fit like a glove and has lasted about 20kmiles so far without issues.

I installed a Raybestos 502-1200 Professional Grade Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly on my '91 LS400 today. Looked just like OE, and fit perfectly except the castle nut was a little too short (did not line up with the hole in the ball joint stud) so I re-used the old one.

So the fit is confirmed, and I highly recommend the part based on visual inspection. I don't expect any wear problems.

No, just the right side. The left side is still tight. Raybestos PN for the left side is 502-1201. PN again for the right side is 502-1200.
