92 Sticker Pin Stripe Removal
Hello, I would like to remove the sticker pin stripe off my 92 LS. I searched and from what I read all I need is a hair dryer and some patience. I'm concerned that there will be a noticable difference in the paint under the sticker and the paint that has been exposed all these years. The paint on my car is in very good shape. Any tips on removing the stripe is appreciated. Thanks

Wow my pin stripes came out with rubbing compound and a rag in circular motion. Hah I wonder if the paint used for the stripes was weak or if the actual paint of my car was that worn down over the last 20 years. Needless to say she's black now instead of silver for about a whole year now.

Oven cleaner? Plastic scraper? The first thing I did after I bought my 00 LS in 2003 was to remove the pinstripes. All it took was a regular hair dryer, some car wax, a soft cotton cloth and maybe 30 minutes. If I was doing it today I would use a microfiber cloth. I have yet to see painted pinstripes on a Lexus - all have been tape-type stripes of the same exact design.

Thanks for the info. I see a lot of right ups on the painted pin stripes but mine is just a sticker. I removed about a 1/2 inch piece with my fingernail so I think getting it hot first will make it come off easily.
Any issues with dis colored paint underneath the stripe?

It is just a vinyl sticker. These probably haven't actually been painted on since the 50's or 60's. My 75' Cadillac's pinstripe is just a sticker as well.
Funny how it is an expensive dealer added option on brand new Lexus's, but it just takes one of the detailer guys with a steady hand a few minutes to put it on.
When I worked at the local dealer a few years back, I accidentally blew part of the brand new pinstripe clean off a new RX350 with the pressure washer while I was prepping it for it's new owner. At first I thought I had made a huge boo-boo, since it literally was a $500 option on the window sticker! However, it truly was no biggie. After i was done, the detailer guy who put it on a few hours earlier, just pulled his pinstripe roll out and reapplied it.
