Engine vibration factors?
I've noticed lately how much I feel the engine when I'm sitting at idle. When I shift into neutral from drive it all but disappears so I replaced the trans mount but it's still there.
I also noticed when I move the wheel right or left then hold it that it isn't so bad and when the A/C is on it also isn't as bad.
I do need a new power steering pump but I'm wondering why the compressor engaging actually helps idle feel? Is it offsetting the bad motor mounts? I only run the air when its really hot so itit's off more than on. Plus I'll run without the blower entirely.
Anyway, just curious for feedback. Motor mounts and power steering are queued up for May. Kinda stinks the trans mount did not do more but atleast it's new and a very easy replacement.

Im pretty sure all our cars have this problem.
Its because they idle so low. When idling you can hear and feel the engine. but anthing above 600 rpms and it goes away. hence the disapearence with ac and the power steering pump.
a fix? best option ive heard of is to tighten the throttle cable to raise the idle.
Will it work? not a clue. Is a bad idea? probably.

That's why the LS has hydraulic motor mounts; the fluid moves through small passages that dampen the transfer of vibration to the frame at low frequency (rpm). But, once they rupture, they become plain rubber, and are no longer effective. Beware non-OEM mounts that are not hydraulic.

I put a set of the DEA branded ones in mine from rock auto. They are Hydraulic, and you can even hear the fluid in then when you give them a jiggle. All my engine vibrations totally disappeared.

Good to hear YoshiMan, I purchased a DEA trans mount from rock auto and plan on getting the DEA motor mounts in the next week. If I remember they are around 50-60 dollars. Can't wait to do this.
