91 LS400 wont start
Hi Guys
Posting after a long time. I have a 92 Soarer TT. My apologies if this is a repeat thread, i used the search bar but couldn't locate similar thread.
Recently, there was a 1991 LS400 up for sale in our local papers. I inquired about it and the owner is selling it for cheap due to the reason the car wont start.
I went down last Saturday to check the car out ( i am very much interested to purchase it). Its about 300km away from my home.
The car seems to be in a very good condition. Has about 161,000km on the clock.
What I noticed is that the engine cranks but wont start. Even if I keep cranking it, there is no fuel smell or smoke coming out of the exhaust.
We tried hearing the fuel pump sound, there is no sound when the ignition is turned on. I couldn't do the diagnostic using the diag. ports since the owners were staring at me all the time.
Need your guys advises if it is worth purchasing it and if it can be a cheap fix.
Thanks heaps.

That's going to be difficult to diagnose without knowing what possible engine codes it is throwing. Can be simple or a boat load of $ parts to replace.
Some thoughts:
Old gas
fuel pump
ECU
coil/igniters
Break in the wiring harness
injectors
...
I say leave it unless you can scan the codes and know what you are in for. Unless they sell it for a few hundred dollars.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies.
The car is owned by a Resort owner. Has a Toyota Dealer service history. No mechanical or engine problem as of now.
The person who was driving the car said he took the car to a supermarket about 25km away from the resort. there was no misfire or any problems. The car was driving as normal. He switch off the car, went in the supermarket, came back, tried to start but never did. He kept cranking.
He said if you keep on cranking, it will start but misfires and turns off. He claimed either sensor problem or fuel problem. I had a similar problem with My 91 Toyota Soarer TT. It wouldn't start and the problem was fuel ECU. I did a bridge at the diag. port using FP and +B, it starts and drives like a charm.
Does the LS400 comes with a Fuel ECU?
The car has been mostly garaged.
Thanks heaps.
