Default Plasti Dip FTW

figured a cheap no risk alternative to my peeling bumper. Basically almost 10 coats of matte white, 2 coats of the pearlizer, 2 coats of rustoleum clear gloss...and did the grill insert black while I was at it, heres the before and after

Looks good man. 10 coats though? Thin 10 coats? I was thinking of dipping my whole car in white a few months ago actually...

i've been looking into dipping recently but just can't seem to find a color i like for the LS, plus I'd need a ton of glossifier

You can mix your own custom color.. Acrylic color mix add some gold flake or metallic to it. It would add up in costs towards the price of actual automotive paint.. But as a DYI project and if you have the means to do it your self.. defiantly worth trying if you want to peel it off down the road.
You can spray normal paint on top of the plastidip if you cant find a color you want. (if you want the capability to peel it off down the road. )

thanks guys, I definitely think its worth trying. DipYourCar sells the dip and glossifier by the gallon if your looking to do a whole car.

And Shiryo, I did pretty light coats at first, then got heavier. Really it took me so many coats because I was covering the yellow showing on the bumper with white. If your covering with a dark color or don't have anything showing through then it won't take as much

car looks much better! good job!

keep this in mind when dipping your whole car. if you change the color of your car, or deviate from black, you will NOT be able to peel the dipped parts inside the seam lines like inside the fenders between the doors. choose your color wisely. my friend dipped his red car purple, then when he peeled it you can still see purple in the seams!

if you disassemble you can peel it off lol. heard something about using thin rubber erasers to get the edge started the pull them off.

Microfiber or a rubber glove will be easier and cheaper as you probably have them laying around the garage already.

If i had to deal with the seam having dip overspray id use a pressurized canister with thinner. Just hope it doesnt eat up the paint in the seams since they usually dont have much of any clear on it.
