ls400 steering problem
Hi All,
seems that i have something a miss with my steering! Basically if i go around a right hand corner (ie full turn of the wheel) when i straighten up on the road, the wheel is still pointing maybe 10 degrees to the right. If i then go around a left hand corner (full wheel turn) and then go back to driving straight, then wheel is then pointing about 10 degrees to the left. Obviously something is loose either in the steering rack or there are some shagged bushes. I don't however hear any clunking or banging noises though i am yet to double check these on full lock.
Any ideas where i should start or potentially how to tighten up the rack if it has maybe worked its way loose?
Thanks in advance,
bEn

yes, you should start under the car, and see what is moving around under there while someone turns it from side to side....... then get out, if necessary, and tell us what you found/discovered and see if any of us have had that problem and how we corrected it. the forum is not trying to guess all the different things that Could go wrong, but about trying to help each other...... so, go for it.

Like the gentlemen from Texas said, there are a million different things it could be. It's guesswork. You have to get under the car and inspect\confirm for play in the steering rack. Could be bushes could be tie rods could be the rack & pinion itself could be the u-joint in the column who knows.
