1995 LS400 for our motorscape prauge rally
Hi Gents
Newbie here from the uk all the way from sunny Wales
In sept were doing the motorscape rally tour to prauge see the link below
http://www.motoscape-rally.co.uk/roa...-to-prague.asp
Now we were very lucky to have had a 1995 Lexus ls400 has a 4.0 v8 engine that runs on lpg
If i could ask a little advice before we take our car on the tour
The car has covered 143,000 miles and really does drive like a dream
a couple of things.... Now my main worry is the cambelt it was replaced at 69,000 miles and im told it is 100,000 miles between changes but im also told its 60,000 between changes in the uk
the cambelt i would suspect being quite expensive to change but if it will complete our tour then ill be happy with it,
Obviously need to change the oil and filters & the front disks are warpped quite badly as the steering wobbles when you brake
could someone please advise on what to change or check on a 140,000 mile ls400 with lpg
about to do a 3000 mile journey
we are a little stretched for money so nothing too outstreched but obiously we do want a relliable and fun journey
Any help greatly appreceated

90k miles is safe for the "cambelt". You should be safe for the rally but you should change it soon.
keep in mind though, that if it snaps you're engine is toast.
basic maint. should be done before this type of event:
-shocks and ALL suspension bushings/balljoints checked and tightened
-transmission fluid replaced with fresh toyota T-IV (only !! no other fluids)
-diff fluid swapped out
and etc.

Looks like an awesome time, wish I was there. Be safe, change those brakes and any needed parts for the brakes. You dont want to go down those winding roads and find out you dont have any. Suspension bushings, like PD said, should be checked b/c you want a nice smoooooth and comfortable ride. The cam(timing)belt should be good, depending on how many miles you drive from now til Sept. they're rated for 90,000 miles. Some do last alot longer, but why take the chance of killing the engine? (Preventive maintainance) Have fun on the trip and be safe.

Thank you Guys for your quick resposnses
Im going to do the brakes and suspension in the next few weeks also the oil and filters
is it worth changing the plugs and ht leads or are they good for a few thousand more miles

the plugs are really simple to do and you can run a cheaper+more efficient pure copper plug like NGK V-Power if you don't mind changing them out sooner.
for the spark plug wires just use a meter and make sure resistance isnt too high on any of them. Last thing you want is a borderline lead to die on you midway through the rally after being vibrated to hell.
