Default EBC Red Pads install question

I just got a set of LS400 4 piston calipers, but they did not come with any pads. I have the brake fit kit (Springs and "T"/"X" piece) and EBC Red stuff pads for them, but when I look at the diagrams I am missing the spacers that go on the pad. On my GS the pad has little notches that those spacers hook onto. But on these EBC pads there aren't any notches for that. Do i need to have those spacers?

they're called shims, and yes you need them otherwise they'll squeak.

The pads have built in shims, but the pieces I'm talking about look like little hooks that attach the bottom of the pad, they are called spacers in the brake diagram posted in the diy section.

Has anyone here used EBC pads on their front brakes?

i think you're talking about the brake disc pad spacers, there's 2 little steel clips per caliper (one per pad) that spaces the pad out from the bottom of the inside of the caliper.

lay the old pad over the new EBC pad, if there's a little extra material in the pad plate itself to compensate for the lack of spacer, you can run it without the spacer. if there isnt, you should still be able to slide the spacer on even without the indent.

I don't have the old pads, so i have nothing to go off of. Maybe I can find pics of stock pads with the spacers installed. Right now I'm just dealing with the horrible squeal coming from the pads that hopefully isn't due to the spacer missing, and is just the break-in coating.
