The ones on older Cadillac cars were apparently called lamp monitors or light monitors and faced rearward so that the driver could see his turn signals flash. I don't remember them being bright enough for other drivers to see except at night.

I remember that back in the 1960's some people brought aftermarket lamp units like these from companies like JC Whitney and added them to cars that didn't have them.

Here is an image from eBay.

Edit: Here is a diagram showing similar lamp units on a 1990 Japanese market Toyota Crown.

Well I guess I could have included the part numbers in the image I posted.

But if you are wanting to install these lamps on your LS400, that may be difficult. Based on the diagram, it looks like the clip that holds the lamp unit in place must be installed from below - maybe it's to prevent theft. This area is not accessible from the engine compartment and I don't remember if that area of the fender/wing is accessible when the front turn signal is removed.

might be a good idear, but american muscle cars are a little thin on the ground round here, but i go to a few drag meets in the summer so might have more luck then.
i was going to go down the road of body kit but the car is in sutch good condition i think i might just go retro and add a few touches sutch as marker lights, just to give it that old look about it.but if eney one comes up with some please let me know ,,thanks.
