dead battery
I know I am going to get a lot of flack over this question
I have a 2000 LS 400
if the door is not completely closed the battery goes dead
i have had other cars that have a battery saver system that will turn the lamps off in that case
does this vehicle not have that function??
Jeff

Nope. I killed a battery the same way. In my scenario it sat over the weekend before discovering the dome light had been on. The battery was already about 4 years old so even after getting it recharged, it was gone within the next handful of months for that deep discharge.

When battery gets discharged like that, it is best not to recharge it by driving (Yamae correct me if I'm wrong). Buy a decent battery charger and charge it properly before driving. As far as I know, driving with an empty battery puts too much stress on alternator.
I use "IEIK 12V 5 Amp Automotive Smart Battery Charger Maintainer", especially since I work from home and don't drive much (sometimes for 2-3 weeks) and it works great.

I can go a week or more without driving car.POOF,dead battery.I put a wire set from battery tender and mounted it on lower front bumper.I always have it plugged in now and battery staying fully charged should help its lifetime a lot.About $75 USD.
On my 1967 jeepster commando I put a 10 watt solar panel on roof and wired in a 10 dollar charge controller from panel to battery. Its sits even longer periods and is always at 12.8 volts.About $50 USD.
Cant believe todays cars with heavy always on loads and small batteries dont have solar charging included.
