Default Will the SC400 pioneer sub fit in my LS400? Also a car audio question

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260853076568

I bought that sucker and for $45 shipped and it seems like a good deal...

My LS 400 is a 1991 model and the stock sub had fallen apart from sun exposure..all the after market subs don't sound quite right to me being in the trunk and relying on using that small cutout for the sub to get bass into the main cabin...... and not in my 8 inch spot on the rear deck. that would seem like the best place for a sub..take advantage of the open air of the trunk..and use the sloping glass to direct bass throughout the car.

will the SC400 sub just bolt right in?

this is an 8 inch pioneer

I am pretty sure our stock subs are 8 inch pioneers at 1 ohm and 10 inch nak's at 5 ohm for subs

Second question

I have an aftermarket clarion head unit that is not crossing over my stock LS400 speakers .. ( there is no option ) .IE sending the 4 door speakers full range...and it has a sub Pre out....wont they cancel each other out if I dont cross over my door speakers for the sub? so the doors go down to 120 and the subs goes from 120-35?

Thanks

lol your sub is NOT 1ohm stable. it's 4ohm. please search, we have a lot of threads on this.

a factory 10" SC sub will not fit (or work for that matter, iirc)

Sorry about that! I have found so many conflicting answers in posts on here I wanted to ask again for clarity.

Edit:

It turns out the SC sub is 10 inches and I will have to modify it with a baffle to make it fit my LS400 8 inch opening...darn....

It also turns out that the 10 inch pioneer sub for the SC-400 may not be a free air sub....so I made a wrong choice again.

I could not find any LS400 subs on ebay..only SC 400 subs

I will not be buying that SC-400 sub now

Now I need to find a good 8 inch free air sub with decent sensitivity

Look for the ones out of an ES300 (97=01) Non-nakamichi.

They are 2ohm IIRC, and are 8" pioneer free air subs.

I will look
I have found that a lot of people use this cheap sub in their avalons to a good success
it runs at 4 ohms..almost 90db sens and is made for free air

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...ewRand=1079198

I really wonder why the SC-400 got a bigger /more powerful sub than our Top of the line LS models did....

I bought that parts express sub for $35 shipped and will install it tomorrow and report back.

Every sub I have put in the trunk of the car sucks..it shakes the trunk but the 8 inch hole to the cabin and the way lexus sealed the trunk makes it hard to seep in well.

This should do the trick for my low-mid level listening

Yes we are talking about the single one in the back.

UPDATE!

The sub I bought from parts express at $24 Got put in today. I made a baffle and sealed it and am running it off a very modest 120 watt amp. It is a PERFECT OEM sub replacement. Not better. not worse. It does not thump your head in or go crazy low but it sounds great. Just as good as the newer 1998 LS400 I rode in last week. This is a very good deal and now I have enough bass to satisfy my wants

Do you have a link to the amp and how do you hook the whole thing up? Thanks
