Aiming Depo Headlights (UCF20)
Bought "crystal" Depo headlights and they look great but the beam pattern is absolutely horrible (don't buy it!). Fogs cast glare off to the side of the car and UPWARDS in an arc. High beams are a small concentrated blob. Low beams are "hollow" with glare spots all over the place.
I'm going to try and live with it but will likely swap back to OEM.
Having said that, does anyone have these and know how to aim them? There are two bolts on the back that do not seem to do anything at all.

Thanks for posting your comments. Can you snap a pic of the beam pattern? I'm really curious how these throw in their stock config with halogens. If you've put HID in them, please add to this thread

I just put some in my 92 with HID. Still can't get fogs to work or hi beams. Since the hi beam dash light don't come on not sure if what i see is hi or low beam. To set the aim look for screw to outside of light and under rubber cap on frame above lights one on the inside. Both screws face up one is a philips screw and other is a torx bit. You will find them.
I think the pattern is very good but since i am still fiddling with mine no picture to show yet.
Look here too. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-on-ls400.html

there is a link on how to aim 95-97 headlights in the stickied UCF20/21 faq at the top of the LS400 forum.
and the headlights were designed for diffused glass lenses, of course the optic are going to be horrible if you switch to a clear lens. the only way to get any proper performance out of these clear lens headlights is to crack them open and retrofit projectors in.

Except for the supercharger, I am happy to have use only genuine original Lexus parts in my car for exactly this reason. Thanks for the thread man.

Its not a matter of oem vs aftermarket, its just how theyre designed. An OEM replacement from depo would work just like oem, of course not with the same caliber of quality.

Well with some better aiming it's... Acceptable. The fogs are rubbish as it's glare all over the place, 369 degrees. The problem is without the fogs on. The front looks funny because of the unlit gap between the corner lights and the low beams.

Oops. I meant 360 degrees. Anyway I didn't bother using the crystal corner lights because it just looks bad. Such a huge clear lens light lit by a puny wedge bulb isn't nice.
I'm still contemplating swapping back to stock, yet I like the updated look...
