Default Power seat repair

The reclining switch is broken on my 1990 LS400 drivers seat. Can the switch be replaced or do I have to replace the entire seat? Thanks!

you need to find out if it is the switch or motor, probably not the "entire seat" do a little searching for your answers.

Replacing the switch is easy. Theres only a few clips holding it in place. i had to removed the entire wiring harness and switch when i converted 94' memory power seats to my 91' non memory seats.

Everything else works on the seat but that one switch. I believe it's the switch due to the feel of it when I try to adjust the seat. The plastic button that fits onto the switch is missing so it's just a post and when you try to adjust it, it feels like it barely moves and very stiff.

So I need to replace the switch anyway even if it is the motor.

So...it seems you have a logical starting place. Buy/replace the switch first, motor second.
Best of luck,

If you have Memory function in your seats, Make sure you get the memory seat switch. I believe memory seats have their own ECU. When I purchased my seats from the junk yard it had the memory function and my car didnt. The switches on the memory seats did not work for my 91 non memory car. I ended up having to switching the complete wiring harness and switch for my seats to convert to non memory seats. I hope that makes sense.
