hi

i haven't been in this site for sometime and looks like your car is almost complete. what are you using for fuel and timing management? i have just completed twin turbo kit for my 2nd gen lexus ls400 and car dynoed 350rwhp and much left to tune. i have set of custom ls400 heads and head gaskets. with proper engine management and tuning car should make over 600rwhp on pump gas with new parts. have fun boosting.

p.s
do you need some help tuning your car. i'll be in CA sometime in FEB.

Man,

Where have you been? I have been looking for you for sometime now. Finally, you appear. Please let me know when you are coming and what you are going to bring. An Unichip will be nice. Email me info@lextreme.com. I am running stock fuel right now. I am only using Apexi S-AFC. I have a Aeromotive Adjustable fuel regulator and some used Supra MKIV TT 440 cc injectors at home along with a 255 L/H fuel pump. They are all ready to be install. The TT you made, is that stock bottom end? Please email me.

I am going to get an Autometer A/F meter today. Its a POS. Its a display of lights dancing around, but right now I dont have anything to monitor the A/F mixer.

i don't have any plans on making this into kit form. if someone is interested in paying around $8000 then i can put a complete kit together. this would include twin turbo kit, complete fuel system, bov, intercoolers and engine management. it is not cheap but there aren't much room to lower the cost.

Actually the is a great price. I know the GS TT was $35,000. I paid over $6-7k for my project. Like V8hunter said, its not cheap to make great TT kit. TT system cost double. Great job Chris, keep up the good work. Can you help me bring my LS400 to 600 rwhp??? LOL That would be something wouldnt it?

Took my car to SP Engineering and dyno my 12 years old with 150,000 miles LS400. At 8 psi the car produce 324.5 rwhp and 324.7 rwtq. The car run slightly lean at middle range. I readjust my piggyback. With more tunning and a low mount intercooler, i should get around 350-375 rwhp. I can post the print out if you want.

Anyway, the car produce around 250 rwhp at around 3500 rpm and linear increase to 5100 rpm. Over all i am pretty happy with the result. John who works at SP said i am crazy to put two turbos in a Lexus LS400.

If my memory serve me correctly, the stock 90 LS400 was dynoed at 172 rwhp. I gained around 152 rwhp.

Stock:
172 rwhp = 240 bhp , its about 29% hp is lost

TT 8 psi:
324.5 rwhp = 418.6 bhp, assuming 29% is being lost via drivetrain.

That put a smile on my face. All the hard work pay off.

Wow, you guys did great job on your TT setups! Dave, 150k engine producing over 400hp is pretty amazing. I can't wait for the meet in Feb to see your LS.

Chris. Last time we talked on the phone you mentioned this TT project but you are no talk and all action I did not realize it would be complete so soon. Anyway, When are you planning to mod the engine to get even more HP? Are you going to upgrade the tranny?

325rwhp!!!! WOW...

David, actually the stock drivetrain looses about 25%. Divide 324.5 by 75 and multiply by 100 to find your flywheel output = 433hp!!! And that is through the marginal stock exhaust manifolds. Very impressive.

At what RPM does it first make 1psi of boost? What RPM is full boost reached?

I am not sure when i get positive boost. I wouldl guess around 1600 to 1800 rpm and full boost at around 3000 rpm. 433 bhp? are you sure? That is too much dont you think? This is what I cam up with. 172 rwhp is about 29% less than 240 bhp. I use 324.5 time .29 plus 423.5. I got 418.xx bhp. Maybe my calculation is wrong.

This is the link to the dyno sheet:

http://www.lextreme.com/Dyno.htm

What do u think my 1/4 mile would be?

David, I started a thread on your car in the Racing section and posted what I believe it to be capable off if set up properly.

Regarding the calcs. Loss is irrelavent as it is RW power/torque that matters. However, calculating engine output is fun so here is how to do it.

Take your rwhp. Divide it by the difference between the expected loss and 100. In this case I said 25% loss (divide 324.5 by 75) if the loss was 29% you would use 71. Then multiply that by 100 to get your number.

324.5 / 75 = 4.33 X 100 = 433hp flywheel.

Using 29% (too much in my opinion) yields 457hp.

To check these simply subtract the relative percentages:

433 - 25% = 324.xx
457 - 29% = 324.xx

Congratulations on possibly the worlds MOST powerful 1990 LS400!!!

Not the most powerful LS400 for sure. Chris Num (V8Huntr) is getting 350 rwhp @ 4 psi. That is crazy in my opinion.
