I appreciate the knowledge that goes on around here. It gives me a point of reference...

I assume swapping out the bushing is a bigger pain in the *** that swapping in a complete bar ?

Bringing this thread back to life...
Is the bushing (48674-40051) still available without buying the entire lower strut bar. Lexus calls it a "Cushion" and I've read it is now no longer available.
-If it is available (I know I can call my local Lexus parts counter and ask but it's 2am right now and they're not open) how much of a pain is it to press out and back in? I do have an arbor press.
-If it's NOT available can I replace just one strut bar or do I need to adhere to the REPLACE FRONT END PARTS IN PAIRS rule?
My 99 LS pass side front end has developed the ubiquitous low speed (turning) parking lot CLUNK

part number for '98-00 should be 48674-40051 and is still available, approximately $50-60/each street price.

Should be replaced in pairs.

Follow correct install directions in regards to clocking the bushings and how to torque to spec.

How difficult are they to get out and back in? I really don't want to walk away from this wishing I'd just bought the whole bar...

you gotta press the old bushing out or burn it out. I just bought both complete new OEM strut rods, made life a lot easier. $125 each though

So just to clarify 48674-40051 super cedes 48674-40050 and 48674-50052 and my local Lexus parts guy will probably tell me this is a 95 or 96 LS part only.
And if I can still buy them they WILL fit into my strut rods?????

48674-40051 appears to be for 96 97. But i can't find the individual strut rod bushing for 98-00 so it might fit all 95-00

Before I tackled this job, I scoped out a local machine shop that was open on Saturday morning and would press out the old and press in the new bushings for $10 each. Started the job at 8am. Was at the machine shop at 10am and had everything put back together by noon.

Of course while doing it, I found I really should replace the lower ball joints and outer tie rods soon...

I jacked her up and crawled under last night. I thought I'd start easy and re torque the front sub frame bolts. Most were pretty close but a couple took a few turns of the wrench to get them where they should be. I was amazed when I got behind the wheel and everything felt surprisingly better from just a little tweaking! I drove around a parking lot, backing in and out of parking spaces, literally trying to make it pop. I was able to get a pop/clunk out of her but it was nowhere near as pronounced as before.
Of course while I was underneath I took a close look at the strut rod bushings. They have definitely seen better days and are next on the list to be replaced. I did all 4 tie rods and the lower ball joints a little over a year ago...

I need strut rod bushings for a 2000 LS400.
I saw two different part numbers for the strut rod bushings, and with different price.
1. For 1995--1996 LS400, $33.06, Part Number: 4867450051 ; 4867450050; 48674-50050
http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.co...867450051.html
2. For 1998-2000, $43.94. Part Number: 4867440051 ; 4867450052; 4867440050
http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.co...867440051.html

So, Do the 1995-1996 and 1998-2000 LS400s use different bushings?
I will buy the $33.06 bushings if they are the same ones.
