Looks like the G sensor connector. Pull a coil wire instead of the individual plug wires. If the car dies when you pull the coil wire check the other coil. I bet if you look down at the cats when its dark they will be a pretty red color. Pull codes! If the belt is off even a tooth the car will set a code..... Every plug has a place.. There are no unused connectors on that engine.

Is it weird that i can pull all four wires on the driver side off the cap and the engine still runs? So doesnt that mean the whole driver side is not firing? and only the passenger side is firing?

Just to clarify...no matter what plug you pull when all 8 is running, should it stumble a little bit and not stay the same?, guess ill check timing once again.

Just interested, where did that connecter go? It looked like the connecter for the camshaft sensor.
So, you pulled the wires off the drivers side distributor cap and nothing happened different and the passenger side, pulled wires from dist and it wants to die. So the problem is before the dist on drivers side. Camshaft sensor or coil. Seeing how you had that unplugged connector, are you sure you have the camshaft sensor hooked up, and hooked up correct?

yes everything connected correctly. I replaced the coil, rotor, and distributor, and spark plug wire. That connector went to a little sensor that was bolted to the plastic i guess. Is the engine suppose to react when you unplug those wires. My car seems to be a lot smoother but it still seems like its revving slow.

Also even if the timing was off, would the engine be able to rev to 4-6k with out any misfiring and such

On a 4 cylinder engine with the timing belt off by one tooth the engine starts, idles and revs fine but when driving it there is absolutely no power.

With an 8 cylinder, since there are two cams, if one is off I would assume you'd have no power in 4 cylinders while the other 4 run fine. This should produce a very noticeable drop in power but the car will probably still be drivable and it will probably rev fine when not driving it.

I'm concerned about this ability to remove all four spark plug wires from the drivers side with no effect. I would first verify that spark is actually coming out of those wires. If not then focus on that.

If there is spark, then I would go back to looking at the timing marks. I haven't seen any pictures verifying that the timing on the cams is correct. Also, although deanshark's video for changing the timing belt is very nice I don't see where the video points out exactly where to look on each cam to make sure they're lined up properly.

Pretty sure the connector you are referring to is the Cam position sensor. If you took it apart, and put it back together, and something is different, more than likely you didn't put it back together right.

If you search, you could easily find the marks that your looking for to verify your timed right. Here is a link to help you out.

if you redo your belt again start by putting your crank pulley ten degrees advanced. This will eliminate the tensioning issues with the second cam pulley. When checking for spark dont bother pulling wires, use an inductive timing light, easier and safer as far as electronics go.
