Post Fuse keeps blowing?

The fuse for the a/c fans keeps blowing, causing the temp to rise if left idling. I replace it and the fans will work for a minute or two but then they shut down due to a blown fuse. Does anyone know what could cause this fuse to keep blowing?

pictures will help kind of hard to pinpoint the problem. show us the 'frayed' wires and how you fixed them.

this wire ( wrapped in tape) runs under where the battery sits and plugs into the fan

Find yourself a wiring diagram and trace it, diagnose it, whatever. Otherwise take it to a tech.

"this wire ( wrapped in tape) runs under where the battery sits and plugs into the fan"

This statemet got my attention. Any wire running "under the battry" might have easily been damaged by a leaking battery and just correcting the frayed wire might not be enough. A whole section of wire could be damaged.

Since it operates for a little while with a new few there is also a chance that one - probably not both - of the fan motors is failing. Can you disconnect one fan motor at a time and see if you can isolate the problem a bit.

I don't really see how a bad relaly would cause this - unless it too is under the battery - but a new relay is less costly than a service visit if you think it might help.

Good luck.
