hey, pull the pan off and check the filter. its probably clogged again. change it again, rockauto has them for $5.00 so you can do this three or four times to get the cloggant (lol) out. I did it - my car was identical when I changed the transmission with a junqueyard unit. The junkyard unit worked for about 300 feet, then the car lost all propulsion. Many filter changes later, more than a year later, 5,000 miles later, it shifts all right.

That wouldn't do it for only one gear. Its electrical and probably a solenoid.

Default someone please help!

I'm having the same proble it all started when I was driving my car all day and around 4 o clock when I pulled off from the stop light and got to around 10 miles per hour it didn't want to shift as if th tranny was dragging! I immediately started panicing so I alled sears and drove it 5 miles there so thy can hook it up to see if any codes popped up and none did. The check engine light is not on either. It was slippin the whole way there and on the way back as I got closer home it got way wworst. I would have my foot on the gas and it wouldn even do anything after I got to 5 miles per hour than it would catch and jerk ! I took it home and my dad said check the fluid it read only on the cold but my car was still warmed up so I took it as it being low and gt sum fluid and poured just a little in the dip stick and tried to start it and it started a lil and turned off. Before I went and got the fluid I ad started it and it was sitting there idling as if it wanted to cut off! Can some one please explain to m what's goin on I don't have money to replace a tranny so in the morning I am going to pay some one to drop the pan and replace the filter and seal will this work??? If not what do I have to do?

try using the right fluid.

only trans fluid that should be used is Toyota T-IV transmission fluid. anything else will cause problems like you mentioned.

putting the year of your LS400 in the post helps a lot too...

take it to a shop that specializes in toyotas. either the fluid's wrong or the trannies done. either way if you don't know what you're doing you're just going to make things worse.
