I just wondering is that second link for bearing is correct because it has the Concave/Crowned Outer Surface Bearing so its little bit round inner surface.
Is it not suppose to be flat.

20K miles later, a water pump leak develops.

 

please tell me how coolant dripping from the inside of the lower timing cover is necessarily the water pump? - I can think of many more likely sources than a relatively new water pump.

coolant migrates down following gravity, and there are a lot of places coolant travels higher up around the front of the engine that could be the leak source besides the water pump!

it's like for every 100 LS400's I see with a steering rack wet with power steering fluid, you know how many are actually the rack itself leaking? - maybe 1 or zero!

there are many places, basically anything from the leak up! (it's not the heater core though - lol)

you are unfortunately going to have to run the engine and perhaps even drive a bit around the neighborhood on a nice day, with timing covers and fan blade removed, I don't envy you, but got to be done. It could even be coming from something way up high like the thermostat housing, and stealthily sneaking all the way down in its migration!

but most likely is a connection inside one of the timing covers

 

if this leak were not inside the timing covers or at least passing through them, you could put off fixing it for a while, and just keep the coolant topped up, but in this case, you don't want to wait on finding and fixing it, because coolant is very slick and slippery, not something you want around a timing belt, where slipping can be fatal!

Checked and the thermostat housing gasket might be bad. I will replace the gasket and see.
