Default When you wax

Do you do the bottom half of the two-tone vehicles? I used to once, a long time ago but not sure if I should feel bad about giving up on it. Anyone else here skip that back breaker?

I always say I'm going to skip it, but once I start, I can't bring myself to do it. If you're already there, do it right.

I solved it by STARTING at the bottom (mine isn't two tone, but the temptation would still be there) when I wax. That way it gets easier as I go on.

Depends with me. Usually the wax wears off on the top portions that get the constant sun exposure so that means I do the top twice and the bottom once. The body shop guy was looking at my car a couple weeks back and said the paint was YMMV.

I polish/wax the bottom half but always miss the rockers. Even when aired up all the way the rocker panels are still too low.

Mine's two-tone. The lower cladding is pretty faded and has plenty of scrapes scratches and missing paint showing the yellow underneath. Also looks like a brillo pad has been taken to it, numerous times.

I did the first dawn wash/clay/polish/seal/wax over the weekend, didn't bother touching the lower panels aside from a good washing and a little scuff removal. Gonna get some quotes on getting the cladding/bumper resprayed silver.

The diamond white pearl does look very reflective and the pearls just pop, and the paint is oh so silky. Not bad for an 18 year old car.

Well I waxed with my teeth once, but that really put my back out.

Waxed the whole car, including the lower cladding a few days ago. Never considered an LS 400 to be a really big car until I got to work on the cladding. Jeez Louise, what a chore! There's SO much of it and it's mostly at an awkward angle to even reach. Mine needed a good cleaning and tar removal before I could even wax there, Think I'll put it on a lift at work next time!

Jeeesh! "I can't bend over"? You guy's sound like a bunch of 80 year olds...

I do the cladding and rocker panels on all my car's... I use all Zaino products. If you do it twice a year, it's much easier to maintain...

It doesn't matter how old you are if ya have back problems. Most mechanics do have problems from reaching and bending over for years. And lifting engines out with a chain and 2x4s. (not an engine hoist) Me, it's all that and 30 years of construction work.

absolutely, it really does add a sleeker look to the car when viewing from different angles.
