Everytime I hit the brakes in my 91 ls400 my cd player unit dims? any ideas?

 

Check your battery connections, clean off any corosion and make sure they're tight. But it does sound like your alternator might be starting to go. Does it do it with any other lights? Are your wipers or windows starting to slow down? If so and they speed up with higher RPMs then it's most likely your alternator.

My wipers and everything else is working just fine. Is the alternator a hard job?

 

The alt is the hardest job I've ever seen. I'm unemployed and looking for some side work. Nah, just kiddin', it's not really too bad. I've had mine out twice (4 times if ya count the 2 timing belt jobs) My headlights dim a little when I hit the brakes but I heard thats normal b/c of the size of the alt, some people have put in bigger alternators just for that reason. I never heard of the CD dimming though.
