Default Infant seat tether

Has anyone installed a forward facing car seat with tether? Do I have to drill a hole in the rear dash? I have a 1996 LS400.

If you feel around you can find the bolt mounts on the back dash. You need to get some metric bolts, I think they are 8mm but I could be wrong as it was years ago (I have the 96 too). Cut a little hole in the material and you can get the bolt in. I left the bolts sticking out about 10-15mm with a big washer on the bottom, so that I could connect the quick-release of the seat easily enough (you need to remove the seats sometimes to clean up all the baby mess!)

Congratulations, BTW!

No offense but I don't think an 8mm bolt is gonna hold a car seat in an accident. Personally, I would use the regular seat belts instead of having to modify it just for convenience. This isn't just a mod to your car, this is a life you're talking about here. Sure, car seats are a PITA to get them right and tight but they need to be.
Past experience; took me 2 hours one time to get my sons seat connected and tight in my X's car back in 93, she got hit head on by a f!@#$% drunk driver, car was totaled, car seat didn't move an inch.
When it comes to our children, and grandchildren, SAFETY FIRST.

Default 1999 Lexus LS400 toddler carseat LATCH system?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. I just got a 1999 Lexus LS400. I heard Lexus makes LATCH system for a toddler car seat? Does anyone know where I can purchase it? I have been researching like crazy and can't find anything. Apparently, there is a thread where some guy owns a 1999 Lexus GS400 and he was able to get the LATCH system installed by Lexus. I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and see what they can do.

I would rather not modify this beauty. Does anyone know if the seatbelt is recommended solution to this carseat problem and are there any recommendations on how to secure as tight as possible?

Thank you for any help!!
