Default 91 LS400 Transmission shop recommendations

So as soon as i drop off the gf my tranny starts to give out and doesnt want to move much any more. I have 221K on the motor and the tranny fluid looks dark red/black so i'm guessing the tranny is giving out.

My questions is does anyone in Socal know of any good quality tranny shops near Rosemead/San Gabriel???

it sure sounds like your fluid is giving out. maybe do a fluid drain and fill, and clean the filter, to see if that improves things. there are lots of threads on tranny fluid replacement.

lol just fluid exchange (not power flush) the trans fluid for some fresh Toyota T-IV (NO Dexron/Mercon!!) fluid and you could be fine...

the clutches dont usually go out unless you've abused the hell oout of the trans.

Tranny still slips at random times. I drive out for about 50 miles and it decided to slip. I tried to cycle the key and it decided to work fine. Any ideas?

okay, so i read a bunch of threads and i had the same symptoms as a couple of other people.

1. tranny squealing
2. " slipping

so i changed the tranny filter and soaked two of the 4 solenoids and so far it has been doing fine. its just the first day so i'll be sure to keep with the update. If i dont have any issues with the tranny then i'll be back in 3k miles.

I soaked then in PB Blaster. I did the same as another member. There wasn't any real problem with my solenoids but I did it anyways since I changed my tranny filter.
