Default Transmission: Vent from tranny fluid pan

i found out the tranny fluid is leaking from the vent that is on the backside of the tranny fluid pan.

if you look at it from the back (looking towards the front of the car) there's a vent on the side of the pan.

it leaks like a sieve onto my parking spot. i checked the fluid level and it looks ok. maybe they lube shop overfilled the fluid and now excess fluid is dripping out?

1990 ES250

what do you figure? first i thought it was a bad gasket but i could clearly see that the leak was from that vent.

should i wait it out (excess fluid is venting out) and it will eventually stop? or is this a more serious problem?

discuss.

what harm is done when the hack of a technician overdoes it on the tranny fluid?

That depends on how much over. Too much and you risk some seal issues for one thing.

Incidentally, my level on my RX300 has always been over the hot level, but I would not recommend doing that. May just be a quirk of being at high altitude.
